It is understood that some candidates need to work to pay living expenses. Candidates, however, may not arrive late to their student teaching placement or leave the placement early to accommodate outside work.
If the cooperating or mentor teacher and supervisor determine that employment interferes with the candidate’s ability to meet program requirements, they will first discuss the concerns with the candidate and provide the candidate the opportunity to address the concerns. If the concerns persist, the candidate may be dismissed from the student teaching placement or receive an Unsatisfactory (U) grade.
