Prorated Vacation Time - Exempt Associates:
1 week after 6 months
2 weeks (prorated) after 1 year
3 weeks after 5th calendar year
Personal Days: In an associate’s first calendar year with OSJL, the number of days per calendar year will be awarded based on the hire date as noted below:
January, February, & March hires – 3 days
April, May & June hires – 2 days
July, August, & September hires – 1 day
October, November, & December hires – 0 days (No days in this calendar year, 3 days after 90 days of service in next calendar year)
Sick Days: Associates receive three (3) days after 30 days of service and four (4) additional days (prorated) after six (6) months of service. Maximum of seven sick days per calendar year and thereafter, unless mandated by state law.
Service Milestones: Starting after an associate’s 10th calendar year with every 5 years thereafter (15th, 20th, 25th, etc.), associates are rewarded with a week of paid time. associates have the choice to receive 1 week of additional pay or 1 week of paid vacation
Wellness Day: Associates are awarded 1 day on January 1st of every year.
Holidays: Eligibility for holiday pay is based on state and location. All associates must be employed for 30 days in order to receive the Holiday pay.
Jury Duty: Associates are eligible to receive pay equal to the difference between what they earn while serving and what they would normally have earned at OSJL up to a maximum of 10 days. Must have 30 days of service. After 10 days, available Personal and Vacation time can be used. Associates will receive the difference between monies received from the State and their average weekly wage from OSJL.
Bereavement: In the unfortunate event that an associate is faced with the death of a family member Ocean State Job Lot offers paid bereavement days, available immediately upon employment, as follows:
Immediate Family: Three (3) days of bereavement time may be taken for the loss of a parent(s), stepparent, spouse, domestic partner, fiancé, sibling, sibling-in-law, child (ren), stepchild (ren), children-in-law, parent-in-law and/or grandparent(s), or grandchildren.
Non-immediate Family: One (1) day of bereavement time may be taken for the loss of an aunt, uncle, nephew and/or niece. Additional time of up to (2) days may be available, at the discretion of the Director of Human Resources based on travel requirements.
Prorated Vacation Time: 1 week after 6 months and then 1 week at the anniversary date of hire. The first week must be used in 6 months.
Personal Days: 1 Day after 1 Year
Sick Days: Associates may be eligible for paid sick leave, with eligibility and restrictions based on state law. Please consult with your HRBP and/or review the applicable subsection, if any, of CPP 253 for more information.

Wellness Day: Non - exempt associates are given 1 day at their anniversary date.
Holidays: To receive holiday pay, at an associate’s regular rate of pay. An associate must have worked or been paid for their regularly scheduled day both before AND after the holiday. In order to qualify for holiday pay, the associate must use available paid time as follows: sick, vacation, or personal time to cover the scheduled day before and after the holiday is full.
