General Rules:
Applications must be completely filled out by the student, the employer, and signed by a parent before they can be processed by ECHS
We do not process applications for students that are not ECHS students. These students would need to contact the Educational Support Services office - Dora Jaramillo, 760.966.7828
Work Permit Applications can be dropped off in the College and Career Center before and after school, during passing periods, during nutrition break and at lunch. Work Permits will not be processed during a student's class time.
Approving Work Permits:
Schools are not required to approve work permits. It is a privilege for a student to be allowed to work while going to school- school must come first. Therefore our policy is:
Check grades
Student should have a current GPA of at least a 2.0, no Ds or Fs.
Students with low grades/GPA’s may be granted a permit, but are flagged and monitored each grading period
Check attendance issues
According to CA law, truant students cannot be issued a work permit
Check discipline issues
Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA, no Ds or Fs, with satisfactory attendance and behavior or the permit may be revoked

Renewing a Work Permit:
Is your work permit about to expire or recently expired? Are you still working at the same business and same location?
Just tell Ms. Pieri that you need to renew your work permit. No need to fill out another work permit request form.
If you meet the requirements for a work permit, the expiration will be extended.
During the Summer:
The College & Career Center is closed during the summer. Please bring your work permit request to the front office or email it to sdegrafft@oside.us
