Broadcast Journalism

While broadcast has never been a focus on mine in journalism, I have loved having the opportunity to help edit and produce our journalism classes numerous broadcasts such as our podcast, "Cross the Line", our sports documentary "The Season", and helped facilitate our talk show called the "OHS Coaches Show". I have helped to edit text, audio, and video to help tell the story effectively and convey a compelling story to the audience.

This is the "Cross the Line" podcast. I would help to edit and write the script to ensure that questions asked on the podcast were productive and contributed to the development of the story and purpose. I also helped critique the podcast, offering constrictive criticism to help improve the next edition.

Attached is an episode of "The Season". My contributions to the season consisted of editing and helping to produce the documentary, as I would also help formulate questions and offer insightful recommendations to helping the work flow better. I learned the importance of easing nerves of on camera interviewees, as being behind the camera is much easier than being the face. I travelled to numerous Mississippi towns such as Tupelo and Starkville to aid in the videography of the documentary, and I was able to learn through experimentation how to get the best shots of in motion sports players. I look forward to continuing this activity throughout the rest of the semester.
