Andersen AFB Cadet Squadron uses the Cadet of the Month program to award cadets in the ranks of CADET up to STAFF SERGEANT. We are currently working on a new program for cadets ranked at TSgt and higher.
The Cadet of the Month Award program is used to motivate cadets to excel in Civil Air Patrol. Evaluation is determined almost entirely by objective criteria, using a point system. By limiting the degree to which personal opinion affects the award, cadets know what to expect and can compute their own scores. The point system is organized around three main categories, encompassing the full breadth of the cadet experience:
PARTICIPATION. ACHIEVEMENT. SERVICE.
PARTICIPATION:
Attend a weekly meeting (5 pts possible)
Attend a weekend activity (9 pts possible)
Renew CAP Membership (8 pts possible)
Participate in an activity that lasts longer than two meetings, i.e. Model Rocketry (5 pts possible)
ACHIEVEMENT:
Pass a Leadership Test (interactive does not count for this) (pts possible = 5, >90% = 8)
Pass an Aerospace Test (interactive does not count for this) (pts possible = 5, >90% = 8)
Honor Credit (pass all tests and interactives for Honor Credit) (5 pts possible)
Pass a Physical Fitness Test (1 pt possible)
Pass a Drill Test (3 pt possible)
Win Knockout Drill Competition (3 pts possible)
Use your Command Voice (possible 2 pts Satisfactory, 4 pts Excellent)
Give Presentation (8 pts possible)
Earn Promotion (10 pts possible)
SERVICE:
Bring a Friend to CAP (5 pts possible per friend)
Recruit a Member (10 pts possible when application is approved)
Achieve Community Service Ribbon documenting 60 hours of community service outside of CAP (10 pts possible)
Leadership Qualities (up to 5 pts possible at the discretion of the Cadet Commander)
CADET of the MONTH is awarded to the winning cadet every month during the promotions ceremony that takes place the first Thursday meeting of the month.
