Tika means 'right'. Tikanga means the right way to do something.
In dance class, we must follow our Tikanga. We are all responsible for following and upholding Tikanga for our safety, success and wellbeing.
As year 13, you are role models to the younger students. Treat yourselves, each other and the space with kindness and respect.
Our Tikanga for the environment:
Shoes, socks, bags and phones stay away
Always bring a change of clothes
Always bring a full water bottle
We eat before Dance class to make sure we have energy to burn
We use personal hygiene
We inform the teacher before leaving or going to the bathroom
We do not touch anything that is for another class
Our Tikanga for behaviour:
We warm up every lesson.
We ask questions.
We exercise team work and cooperation.
We create new bonds with new people.
We uphold the mana of others with positive words and action.
We use positive and kind language.
We challenge ourselves.
We try new things and encourage others to try new things.
We aim to take one step forward every lesson, to meet the teachers high expectations of us.

Purpose: it is your final year in Dance! It is a huge step up form level 2, so you must consider what is important to you for this year. What does success look like for you? What will motivate in our class you when you feel uninspired, tired and stressed?
Task:
1) As a class we will complete some imagery tasks and sharing around what our goals are, aspirations and what we are looking forward to this year.
2) Consider what is most important to you for your final year in dance.
3) Using the template below create a personal goal. Send it to the teacher to be checked.
4) Make sure you include your name on your goal.
These will be printed and displayed in the classroom as a reminder of what you are working toward.
