Download the following practice exams and practice writing answers on paper.
Year 13's: try a few questions, but remember in the exam you should only answer one.
I recommend writing the questions onto paper so you can practice writing your answers (rather than typing)
Plan your answers first to ensure you do not repeat ideas when addressing different parts of the questions (Question 1A, 1B, 1C etc.) Each part should extend/advance your previous points, but not repeat! You are aiming to add further detail and link the parts together. Repeating the same answer in different parts can bring your grade down.
Have a peer or the teacher take a look at your answers and give you feedback. Or, you can mark yourself by looking at the marking schedule on the 2025 exam information page on this website.
PRACTICE EXAM FEEDBACK
you can talk about any part of the dance. It does not need to be just the part in the video, unless question states otherwise.
way more detail when explaining what you see/be specific/no blanket statements
should be writing more, painting me a picture. Do not assume the reader knows the dance you are writing about
ensure you answer all parts of the question
PLAN your answers so you address the question immediately, and state what you will discuss. Rather than drip feeding. This can be confusing and may lead to you not making your point clearly
PLAN and WRITE in essay format (intro, paragraphs, conclusion)
ANNOTATE sketches with detail. This can bump grades up
CLEARLY link your understanding/the meaning of something to a specific example from the dance (movement, moment, design aspect...)
CLEARLY link your own perspective and opinion to a specific example (whether that example is a movement, design aspect, moment, meaning, symbolism etc.)
