What Is Financial Aid?

Financial aid consists of funds provided to students and families to help pay for postsecondary educational expenses.

Aid can come from:

• The U.S. federal government

• The state in which you live in

• The college you attend

• A nonprofit or private organization

• Grants

• Scholarships 

• Work Study

Important Dates

• October 1, 2025 - The 2026-2027 applications will be available

• March 2, 2026, is the deadline for Cal Grant consideration 

Steps for applying for  Aid

1. Create an FSA ID Account

2. Complete the FAFSA/CADAA

3. Received by colleges

4. File Completion 

5. Financial Aid Award

6. Apply to scholarships

What do you need to complete the Financial Aid application? 

1. Social Security Numbers for FAFSA or,
   CADAA- DACA SSN (leave blank if you don’t have one)

2. Parents 2024 Income information (1040s, W-2s, other records of money earned)

3. 2024 Records of any untaxed income.
