The purpose of the capstone assignment is to give students preparation for college level research, presentations, and end results. Thorough research about the skin and its relationship with UV rays was conducted along with information about the usage of sunscreen among different demographics. This research was used to develop a product and create a presentation to educate the audience and introduce the product. I learned a lot about how UV rays affect the skin and why the use of sunscreen is important. This assignment allowed me to connect a personal concern, such as my skin's protection against the sun, to a larger issue in the world: people of color insufficiently using sunscreen.
