Here is going to be my US history Grow and Glow assignments from marking periods 1 through 4.
Marking Period 1
In this assignment I did very poorly, I got a 65% as a grade and I chose this as my grow assignment because there are so many places where I can make this research paper better. For example my grammar, I had many grammar mistakes. Another one is my thesis statement where I could have made a stronger thesis statement. And fixed all my in text citations stronger, and that is how I could have made my research paper about the causes of world war 1 with my classmates.
This is my glow assignment because of how I got a 90% as a grade, in this assignment we were assigned roles and worked as a class to find the other person's number. As for example there are 10 people with a number assigned, and we would walk around trying to find the person with the number and write information about them telling them who you are when the event is happening and then they tell you who they are in the event. And that is how we learned about how the Tulsa Race riot started, how it happened, what led up to it, and who was treated more fairly than others.
Marking Period 2
Historical Narrative Draft and research paper-Glow
I got an 80% as my grade in this assignment and we had to Research about the impact of the great depression on ethic and racial minorities, I chose to research about what happened to Mexican-Americans. We did a presentation about it but then we had to do a historical narrative which basically was writing a story . And we had to tell about how the great depression affected this Historical person or a made up person,
Japanese Relocation during World War II-Grow
In this assignment I got a very low grade which has been my lowest and haven't got another lower grade, and we had to read about how the Japanese were moved during world war II. And there is much more that I could have done such as reread the entire document and rethink my question answer and that would help my grade more higher. Taking my time and really focusing I would have done so much better at choosing the answers that are shown
Marking Period 3
In this assignment we were supposed to write a research paper on our specific topic. I chosen the Genocide that happened in Guatemala as my grow because, of how I got a grade that is not the best and I could have done much better in this assignment. In this research paper I could have explained my research more clearly, have words that were not repetitive, and used less lengthy quotes .
In this assignment we were supposed to make our own political cartoons similar to the ones like they used during the Vietnam war. I chose this assignment as my glow because of how I have got a really high grade, while completing this assignment we had references helping us get our work done. What I could have done is make the Political Cartoon preferable by adding a better background and making the people better understanding of the situation.
Marking Period 4
In this assignment I did pretty well and I enjoyed doing this assignment because of how I got to understand about the civil rights and how it really started. The objectives of this assignment was to complete 2 documents, one about the main vocabulary that was going to be using and reading a lot. and the other is to read some quotes and write our initial thoughts and responses to the four quotes as well as the cartoon that are given to us by Annotating the quotes and explaining if you agree, what are some questions you have, and how would you rewrite it.
In this assignment I did not do so well and it really challenged me to write the final paper with correct citations and correct evidence that supports my claims. The objectives were that we have read and analyzed 10 documents from the FBI that targeted various Black nationalist groups, including CORE, SCLC, SNCC, the Black Panther Party (BPP) and the Nation of Islam (NOI). Identify protections in the Bill of Rights that were denied or abused by COINTELPRO, by also identifying examples from the COINTELPRO documents that show that the rights of activists were abused.
