"A Raisin in the Sun" Collaborative Essay
This assignment was related to our unit about the play "A Raisin in the Sun", which talks about racial prejudice during the 1950's. This essay required us to choose one theme from the book which we thought was the most important. Me and my teammates all decided to go with the theme of dreams. This assignment wasn't that enjoyable to do, but it was nice doing another group project and I did get a good grade on it. I didn't learn that much from the assignment, but I suppose it helped me understand how to write better .
Commonlit - "The Cask of Amontillado
This assignment wasn't necessarily related to anything we were learning about at the time, and was more so a miscellaneous assignment. There wasn't much of an objective for this assignment, as all you needed to do was read the story and answer the questions attached to it. I didn't really learn anything from this assignment either, besides maybe comprehension. Other than that, I didn't do very well on this assignment, getting a 50. It was also a pretty confusing and boring story to read as well, which is the most likely reason I didn't do well on the assignment. I would probably improve my score by reading more carefully and trying to actually understand what I'm looking at better.

Big Six Song Analysis
This assignment was about our unit centered around poems and symbolism, and example of this being the book we were reading, "A Long Way Down". This assignment required us to pick two stanzas from a song of our selection, and to then use three of Big Six Skills for analyzing poetry: Speaker, Turns, and Tools. We had to use these to analyze what the stanzas were trying to say to the listener. We then had to translate these thoughts onto a poster. This assignment fit into the unit by making us use the Big Six Skills of poetry to find meaning in something, which we would have to do later on when reading "A Long Way Down". I also enjoyed this assignment a fair amount, since It was nice to be able to rarely draw on an assignment, and it was mildly interesting to see what the meaning of certain stanzas were. I also was able to learn how to use the Big Six Skills of analyzing poetry better as well.
"A Raisin in the Sun" Character Analysis Essay
This assignment was centered around "A Raisin in the Sun", and required us to write an analysis essay about a character of our choice, and to show how Lorainne Hansberry developed them during the play. This assignment felt like a conclusion to the play and the narrative it was trying to build. However, I didn't do well on this assignment. This is due to me summarizing the play to much instead of actually focusing on how Beneatha changed instead.

Women's History Month: One-Pager
This assignment required us to research about a woman of our choice, to which we then make a one-pager with a bunch of pictures and facts about the person. This assignment was purely made for women's history month, not really related to anything else we were doing at the time. This assignment, however, was very fun to do. It felt nice actually drawing in the class instead of just writing something. It played into my strengths more, which I liked. I also got a very good grade on this as well, which is a leading factor for why this assignment is one of my glows.
Macbeth Vocab Quiz #2
This assignment is extremely basic, with it simply just being a vocab quiz about Macbeth, and understand the vocab surrounding it. However, the fact I had gotten a 86 on it bugs me. A vocab quiz is one of the easisest quizes to do, so the fact that I somehow got less than a 90 bugs me. I didnt get a bad grade at all, but I can definetly do way better. Something I would do to improve latter down the line would be to review the vocab better .

Social Media Post Project
In relation to the Ted-Talk unit we were learning, this assignment required us to create a video for a social issue that was of our choice. Me and my partner decided to choose racism as our option. Other requirements we need were to have a custom hashtag, and that it must be unique. This assignment was also very fun to do, probably more than the one-pager. Speaking in front of camera (or a audience for that matter) has never really been a problem for me, and I actually enjoy acting, so doing the video was probably the best part, even if it was hard to watch because of how embarrassing it was. Even the other, more mundane stuff like the research and making the script was fun to do, trying to come up with what to say or what we would do in the video. For these multitude of reasons, i'd consider this assignment a glow.
Macbeth Essay
For this assignment, we were asked to choose one of three themes, for an essay on Macbeth. and then to show how that theme is used in the play. The themes included the power of words, ambition, and logic in Macbeth. I choose the power of words, since I though it would be the easiest. Ironically, however, I ended up getting a 70 on this essay. The main problem that I faced while writing this essay, is that I didn't include it in substance. I was practically just summarizing the play and what happened in it, without actually saying anything about how that relates to the theme I had chosen. This led to pretty bad essay that jsut felt like a summary of the play with a few comments about how it relates to "the power of word". I also did not pre-read this essay or let anyone pre-read it for me, which also caused many of the problems it had. For future essays, I'll defenitly look back at what I had said, and think of how I can change it more to prove my point.
