2020-2021 School Year

Faith Ringold inspired Quilt Designs

Students expressed important aspects of their lives in a quilt design focused on line and shape. This was a collaborative project.

Art 2: Sculpture projects.

Watercolor Landscape paintings demonstrating color theory and the element of space.

Kandinsky Abstract art: Mixed media: sharpie, colored pencil, watercolor.

INTRO TO ART: Quilt designs inspired by Faith Ringgold. Students designed three squares each: a personal, family, and community design.

Period 3

Art 2: pen and ink drawings.

Virtual Learning Portraits

Students chose items important to them during quarantine. They responded in writing how this time has affected them and how the objects are meaningful.

2019-2020 school year

Intro to Art Painting: Students demonstrated color theory, space, and texture. They painted these with only the primary colors + black and white.

Art II Sketchbook Selections

Intro to Art Self Portraits in graphite and colored pencil.

Art 2: Landscapes in Chalk Pastel.

Intro to art- Mixed Media "Kandinsky" inspired drawings. Students studied the abstract works of Wassily Kandinksy. We covered the elements of line, shape, and value; and the principles of balance, unity, and contrast. Students created their original works of art based on a basic set of requirements and finished the work using sharpie, colored pencil, and watercolor.

Intro to Art: Printmaking on linoleum blocks. (August)

Art II: Stencil making. Students designed an original stencil and used spray paint to transfer the image onto their T-shirt (smock). (August)

Art II: Pen Technique! Students demonstrated their understanding of shading with pen by drawing an animal or person of their choice using pen as the medium. (August)
