The main goal of the project was to create know-how in municipalities in school design more broadly and for the learning landscape thinking. As a result of the increased competence, new and renovated school buildings will better support the implementation of the curricula in Finland in the future and increase the well-being and motivation among teachers and students.
The main goal was divided into these following sub-goals:
School planning is based on future thinking and trends.
The level of pedagogical planning in municipalities will rise and the differences between municipalities will decrease.
Even in a sparsely populated region, the design of schools have a high standard.
The readiness of municipalities' educational activities to start and participate in new school building projects is improving.
The joint design of the virtual and physical learning landscape improves.
The project was implemented as regional training series between autumn 2019 and autumn 2020.
The training series included two two-day workshops with intermediate tasks.
As a third entity, the project included the Future Thinking in School hybrid seminar, where leading Finnish researchers and experts in school planning made their contributions.
