Moving Forward
This is what you will learn during this class:
For Individuals:
Generate a new research question that logically follows from the current research, aligned with the MRC framework.
Detail the changes in data collection methods and tools necessary to address the new research question.
Identify and address new ethical concerns related to the revised research question.
For Peers:
Evaluate the clarity and feasibility of the new research question presented by peers.
Assess the appropriateness of changes in data collection methods and tools as described by peers.
Identify and critique the handling of new ethical concerns in peers’ proposals.
Step 1: Presentation Problem/Gap/Hook (20 minutes)
Step 2: Independent Work (80 minutes)
Objective: Develop a 2-page proposal outlining the next research study or series of studies based on the MRC framework. Focus on generating a new research question that stems from the current question, describing changes in data collection methods and tools, and identifying any new ethical concerns.
Instructions:
Generate a New Research Question: Building on your current research question, propose a new research question or series of studies that logically follow from your existing work.
Describe Changes in Data Collection Methods and Tools: Detail how your data collection methods and tools will evolve or change in response to the new research question.
Identify Ethical Concerns: Discuss any new ethical concerns that may arise due to the shift in the research question and how you plan to address them.
Step 3: Class Work (80 minutes)
Objective: Receive constructive feedback from the class.
We will have 10 minute verbal presentation and feedback session:
Present your new (fast-forward) research question; describe why you decided to investigate this question following the MRC, discuss what new methods and methodologies you will need to tap into, and if tehre are any new ethical concerns that you need to pay attention to.
