Taking a step back: Presentations
This is what you will learn during this class:
For Presenters:
Effectively communicate the research question, methods, and justification within a 10-minute timeframe.
Integrate peer feedback into the revised research proposal, demonstrating improvement and responsiveness to critiques.
Showcase the relevance of the research question and methods within the context of the MRC framework.
Employ effective presentation skills to convey complex information clearly and engage the audience.
For Audience Students:
Evaluate the clarity and justification of the research question and its alignment with the MRC framework.
Assess the appropriateness and rigor of the methods and data collection tools described in the presentation.
Provide constructive feedback on how effectively the presenter integrated peer feedback into their proposal.
Engage with the presentation by asking relevant questions and contributing to a critical discussion of the research proposal.
These presentations will be assessed by the students using this google form.

Presentation 11
Objective:
You will engage in a pitch competition where you will present your research proposal, highlighting the MRC framework and your newly formulated research question. This exercise will encourage peer feedback and collaborative learning.
Conduct the Pitch Presentations (5 minutes per student + examination by a panel):
You will deliver your pitch to the group. Here’s the schedule:
Each pitch will last 5 minutes.
After each presentation, you will have 5-10 minutes for immediate questions from a panel.
Provide Constructive Feedback:
While listening to each pitch, the panel will take notes on strengths and areas for improvement.
Consider the following when providing feedback:
Clarity of the research question
Justification of theory and evidence
Alignment with the MRC framework
Appropriateness of the methods proposed
Panel Feedback (5-10 minutes):
After each pitch, the panel will engage in a discussion to share feedback. Focus on:
One key takeaway from each presentation.
Suggestions for improvement based on the group’s insights.
Any additional questions that arose during the pitches.
Does the new question need answering, or can they move with the original question?
Respect Time Limits: You will need to adhere to the 5-minute limit for your pitch to ensure everyone has a chance to present.
Be Supportive: You will provide constructive and respectful feedback to your peers. Aim to foster a collaborative atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable sharing their work.
Use Visual Aids (Optional): If time allows, you may use a slide or visual aid to enhance your pitch.
In this pitch competition, you will have the opportunity to practice your presentation skills and refine your research ideas through peer feedback. Embrace this collaborative experience, and be prepared to share your insights and learn from one another.
