Objectives
Understanding the languages spoken, weather conditions in different countries helps us explore the diversity of cultures. It is important to understand tenses, word order (structure), character element combination (meaning) and text types (form).

Unit 1: Country Divergent
Speaking: A new student has joined your Chinese class recently. You try to talk with him/her to get to know each other better with the given questions.
Reading: Identify basic facts and main ideas from texts on language and subjects of study. Respond to comprehension questions based on unseen reading texts.
Listening: Students watch a short video and respond to comprehension questions.
Unit 2: Personal Orientations
Reading: Students identify basic facts and main ideas from texts on hobbies. Respond to comprehension questions based on the unseen reading text.
Writing: Students write a letter to a penpal, introducing themselves, including their hobbies and ECAs in 100-150 characters.
Speaking: Students make a presentation introducing their hobbies, their weekend activities and the activities they do during different seasons. The presentation is about 2-3 minutes.
Unit 3: Personal Zoning
Writing: Students write an email to a friend about their new community facilities, including the available facilities, the distance between their home to the facilities, how they commute between home and the facilities, etc.
Listening: Students complete some tasks while watching a short video on someone’s community /house/room/furniture/appliances.
