Sketchbook
Overview
For EACH Sketchbook assignment
In your Sketchbook (if one has been assigned to you, or just on drawing paper if it hasn't been), render the drawing/sketching/artwork as described here.
These sketches will be worth up to 2-5 Art Points, depending on difficulty, your effort, and following directions. (Extra-special renderings might possibly earn extra credit...) This part is required.
For an additional Art Point, explain your choices or your thoughts on what/how you did on the sketch in a paragraph (I will assign each sketchbook owner a Google Doc, and you can just keep adding your paragraphs there, each one labeled). This part is optional.
Grading
Follow the directions given and use the media specified (unless you discuss it with the teacher beforehand).
All drawings should be OBSERVATIONAL, not from memory or from a photograph/magazine, UNLESS the particular assignment says so. (For example, if you're supposed to draw a hand, draw a hand by looking at a real, live hand, yours or another person's, not from another artwork or photograph).
You should be spending 45+ minutes on each drawing. That's why they're worth multiple points each (think 1 point per 40-minute class).
LABEL EACH DRAWING with the date of assignment and title of assignment.
Drawing should use all available space on the page, but that doesn't mean the page has to be covered. Negative space is very important to overall design, as long as it's a chosen technique.
