Joyce Elizabeth Omlid

11/28/1964 - 3/4/2021

On the afternoon of March 4th, 2021, Joyce Elizabeth Omlid passed away peacefully in her home at the early age of 56. She was born to Jackie and Betty Jo Justice on November 28th, 1964 in Portsmouth, Virginia, and was the second youngest of six children.

Joyce was a supportive wife and loving mother to two children. She was a strong advocate for her son, Justin, through his life with autism, and always encouraged her daughter, Tabatha, to pursue her dreams.

Joyce was known for her beautiful smile and tenacious spirit. She was an avid gardener and crafter in her spare time, and especially loved the Morning Glories she nurtured at their home in Biloxi, Mississippi. She took after her mother in her love of painting. She even delved into pottery and ceramics - a passion she explored through classes with her daughter. Her home was filled with things she created and loved.

She also enjoyed true crime documentaries as well as various shows about ghosts and spirits. She most feared leaving this Earth with no one ever knowing she was once here. She would take comfort in knowing she lives on in our hearts and through her impact on so many souls.

Joyce loved her siblings dearly. She shared a very unique connection with each one of them and highly valued their insights. Family was of utmost importance to her and it showed.

Joyce is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jo. She is survived by her father, Jackie, her husband, Michael, her son, Justin, her daughter, Tabatha, as well as her brothers, Timothy, Jack, and Otis, and her sisters, Janet and Jody, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
