Hello!

My name is Carole Ann Whited and I am one of the middle school math teachers at Our Lady of Victory. This year I am teaching 6th Grade Advanced Math, 6th Grade Honors Math, 7th Grade Advanced Math, 7th Grade Honors Math, 8th Grade Honors Math, and 8th Grade On-level Math. 

This is my 16th year of teaching at OLV.  I have a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, Dearborn, with a major in elementary education.  I am state certified to teach language arts and math in middle school as well.  I completed my Math Educational Enhancement and Leadership Master’s degree at UMD in the spring of 2014.

On a more personal note, my husband, Tom, and I were married in May of 2014. We have an 8-year-old daughter named Elle who will be in 3rd grade at OLV this year, a son, Jack, who turned 6 in April and will be in 1st grade at OLV, and another daughter, Reese, who was born in May of 2021 and will attend our 3-year preschool. I also have a dog, Harlie.

** The following is the criteria that must be met to move up a math class level:

Movement within Math Levels Criteria (Incoming seventh and eighth grade)

• Upward movement will only occur between school years 

• A student will receive the summer workbook and take the current summer work test for the class they are moving into

• A student must maintain a 80% quarterly test average to remain in Honors or Advanced class. If in a school year, a student has two quarters with quarterly assessment averages below 80%, the student will immediately be moved down one level (i.e. Advanced or Algebra 1 to Honors; Honors to On-Level). 

To move from On-Level 6/7 to Honors 7/8:

• • Cumulative Quarterly Test Average:  

    • recommended:  97%

    • required:  93%

  • Cumulative Exam Average (summer work test, midterm, final)

    • recommended:  95% 

    • required:  90%

  • Star Math test average

    • recommended:  90th percentile

    • required:  60th percentile 

• Must meet at least TWO required criteria sections and the third must be the remaining one recommended criteria

To move from Honors 6/7 to Advanced 7 or Algebra 1:

• • Cumulative Quarterly Test Average:  

    • recommended:  97%

    • required:  95%  

  • Cumulative Test Average (summer work test, midterm, final)

    • recommended:  95% 

    • required:  93%

  • Star Math test average

    • recommended:  90th percentile

    • required:  75th percentile

• Must meet at least TWO required criteria sections and the third must be the remaining one recommended criteria
