My name is Debbie Padalis and this is my 12th year teaching at Our Lady of Victory. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a major in Information Systems, from Western Michigan University. After being in the business world for many years, I decided to take some time off to be with my children. After helping out at their school, I decided to go back to school to get my teaching degree. I attended Wayne State University where I received my teaching certificate in K-8 with endorsements in middle school math and social studies, and a Masters of Arts in Teaching. Before coming to OLV I was at St. Fabian in Farmington Hills for 11 years where I taught computer class, 2nd grade, and middle school social studies.
My husband Don and I have two adult children, John and Kirsten, and they, along with their spouses, live and work locally. Both of my children played hockey as children and continue to have a love for the game. They are both giving back to it in different capacities. John is a referee and refs games for all age groups, from youth to juniors. Kirsten played Division 1 hockey in college and is now coaching a team in the hockey club she played with as a youth.
I love teaching social studies. I enjoy introducing different countries and cultures to our 6th graders, teaching ancient civilizations to the 7th graders, and teaching our 8th graders our country’s history. Knowledge of our country's history and of other countries' cultures makes our OLV students more socially and environmentally aware, and informed responsible citizens. Please go to each grade's sub page to read what is covered in each class.
