Our Aims in Year 7Â
Our Aims in Year 7Â
The RS department aims to create a culture of success, where pupils take a keen interest in religion and belief, benefitting from an engaging curriculum which helps them to become ever more autonomous learners. This will help them to strive to develop both academically and spiritually. Our Year 7 Learning aims to provide pupils with a foundational knowledge of Catholicism and the Catholic School environment, as well as introducing them to vital concepts such as our Common Home, Scripture, Jesus' views on outcasts, the Sacrament of the Eucharist, The Holy Spirit and interfaith dialogue - in line with the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales' Curriculum Directory - and introducing the 7 Themes of Catholic Social Teaching.
Staff seek to promote knowledge and understanding of Catholic faith and life, as well as an appreciation and respect for the beliefs, traditions and views of others. We aim to foster appropriate attitudes in our young people for example respect for truth, respect for the views of others, awareness of the spiritual, of moral responsibility and of the challenge of living in a multi-cultural, multi-faith society.
