Preschool

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Preschool used the Responsible Restart Ohio to guide our Preschool Reopening Plan. These same protocols also guided the plan for the K-8 building, ensuring we go above and beyond in safety, health and sanitization protocols.

Parents of Preschool students should follow the requirements of the K-8 building's Responsible Restart, in addition to the protocols described below:


Updated December 21, 2020:

  • All administrators, child care staff members and employees shall wash their hands:

    • Upon entering a classroom and prior to leaving for the day.

    • After caring for someone who is sick.

    • After eating, serving, or preparing food or bottles or feeding a child.

    • After blowing their nose, coughing or sneezing.

    • Before and after touching their face or handling their mask.

  • All children shall wash their hands:

    • Prior to leaving for the day.

    • After eating or assisting with food preparation.

    • After blowing their nose, coughing or sneezing.

    • After touching their face or handling their mask.

  • Employees must perform a daily symptom assessment and have their temperatures checked upon entering the building.

  • Employees must stay home if they are symptomatic.

  • All employees wear a face covering, unless they are unable to due to specific health reasons or it is unsafe for them to do so.

Drop Off:

  • As you arrive with your child at the PK Doors on West 70th, you must wear a mask or protective face covering, per OLMC visitor policy.

  • Preschool students will also wear a mask upon arrival and departure, as well as if they need to enter the main building.

  • OLMC staff will greet you. You will walk through a thermal camera for a temperature check and the staff will ask you a brief health assessment questionnaire.

  • Once the assessment and temperature check is complete, you will sign in at the door if you receive a Preschool voucher.

  • The staff member will then escort your child to wash his or her hands and then take them to their classroom to begin the school day.

During the Day:

  • PK Children will wash their hands when they enter or re-enter the classroom, as they leave the classroom to transition to another classroom or space, before and after each meal, after any type of sensory play or art activity, after sneezing/coughing on hands or using a tissue, or putting fingers in places they should not be, such as nose, mouth, pants, etc. Staff must be vigilant and reinforce hand washing.

  • All field trips are canceled until further notice.

  • We will, to the extent possible, prevent groups from mixing.

  • Communal space, such as the playroom, lunchroom, and bathroom will be staggered. Communal spaces will be sanitized between each group of children.

  • Toys will be sanitized after each use and toys that cannot be sanitized will not be used.

Pick Up:

Your child will be escorted to the door by a staff member for pick up. Only the individuals listed on the authorized pick-up list will be permitted to leave with a child.

All Preschool students must wash their hands before leaving, which will be facilitated by the classroom teacher.

Confirmed Cases:

  • OLMC will immediately notify the Department of Jobs and Family Services in writing of any confirmed cases of COVID-19 among children or staff

  • OLMC will work with the county health department to identify potentially or exposed individuals to help facilitate effective contact tracing/notifications.
