The regional meetings are led by students our age, and they're super fun and educational! We highly recommend doing it, for the experience and for all of the new friends we make. If needed, there are ASL interpreters available at the meetings, and we highly value accessibility. If there is any concern about missing school, we have a letter for excused absence available for the students who attend. GSA advisors/adults are also welcome and encouraged to attend. At ORR, when we attend regional meetings it's just like a field trip, with a permission slip and bus. It's all free and takes up the full school day.
Everyone is welcome at these meetings; this is not the same as the leadership application below but we recommend both!
Keep an eye on the @masslgbtqyouth Instagram to see when applications are open!
Summit is a completely free, overnight trip at UMass Amherst, where students stay for three nights in the UMass Amherst Hotel. We participate in leadership and antiracism workshops, and have tons of super fun community building and fun activities including but not limited to:
a talent show
field day
ball (as in ballroom culture, not waltzing)
gender affinity groups
racial affinity groups
