Dear readers,

My hope is that our remote library classes are a place of refuge, relaxation, comfort, joy, connection, and expression. All the things that stories bring to our lives!

In an effort to make things easier for you to access last springs' videos, I've added a page for BY Library activities and a page for IY Library Activities under the tab Archived Remote Learning 2019-2020.

You are always welcome to contact me for additional questions and support at wordenl@oes.edu.

Take care and happy reading, Ms. Lora

Remote learning library activities prior to April 13 are archived here. You're welcome to go back and enjoy these activities.

LESSONS FROM LAST SPRING:

For the week of March 31 - April 3:

Hello families, Please follow these links for grade level library class activities. Each class includes a link to a video of me reading "What If?," a book that I wanted to share with the entire LS community.

Many LS students enjoy coming in to the library to color or do origami during lunch recess. Ms. Alma wants to stay connected with all of you as well, so there is also a link to optional "recess" activities for your family to enjoy. She will add new activities each week, including instructions for origami, favorite coloring sheets, storytelling videos and more!

For information on finding print and on-line reading material, please visit our "Got Books?" page. I'll be adding more to that this week! And if you have any questions or need additional support, please contact me at wordenl@oes.edu. Take care and happy reading! - Lora

March 17, 2020

Dear students and families,

We miss you already!

Did you know that students and families checked out 755 books on Friday, March 13. That's compared to 175 books on the Friday before! Wow! We're so glad that so many of you were able to stock up on books. For resources on finding other ways to access both print and on-line reading material, visit our Got Books? page.

Each rotation, I will post library class assignments here on our Remote Learning page.

For remote learning, many experts suggest setting up a dedicated learning space in your home and creating a daily schedule to follow. In the beginning of this interview with beloved author, Patricia Polacco, she shares a tradition her family had of nightly "fire talks." I encourage you and your family to set up a special cozy reading nook and to set aside time each day to read and tell stories. Stories have a way of bringing us together and I hope we will find how true this is even, and perhaps especially, while we are physically apart.

If you have any questions, please contact me at wordenl@oes.edu.

For the week of March 17 - 19. Here are links to optional library activities for each grade. Feel free to check out other grade level options, too, as they may be also be a good fit for your family.
