Many faculty may want to enhance their course with experiential learning but have limited time to do so. The goal of this part of our prototype is to (1) find out more about XL and what the university offers, (2) allow faculty the opportunity to engage in self-guided professional learning, and (3) join in on the FEXL learning community in various formats.
FEXL's professional learning hub, would be designed as a one-stop shop for all things experiential learning at ODU. Our team came up with the following types of information that could be included, and created linked examples for a few of them as well:
Self-directed learning modules
Funding resources to support experiential learning
Potential community partners and guidelines for interacting ethically and sustainably
Presentations/scholarship by faculty on experiential learning
Administrative considerations
While we have focused on the faculty component, ideally the experiential learning hub should have a landing page that can direct users based on their type: student, faculty/staff, and external partners.
(One of our team members, Ann Kumm, is working on similar professional learning website for her faculty at the English Language Center, so we thought it may be useful to look at an example from her program just to jump start ideas. Again, this is in early draft form and for a different purpose, but it still may be useful for idea generation. Note, you must be logged in to your ODU account to access the website)
