Supporting Families Who Choose to Educate at Home
At OCM BOCES, we recognize that learning can happen in many places—including at home. Our Home Instruction service partners with school districts to support families who choose to homeschool their children, while also ensuring that students meet the educational requirements outlined by the New York State Commissioner of Education.
We help districts by managing the full process of home instruction compliance—from receiving letters of intent and reviewing Individualized Home Instruction Plans (IHIPs) to tracking quarterly reports and annual assessments. Our team maintains accurate records and provides consistent oversight so that both districts and families have the support they need.
For participating districts, this service offers peace of mind and expertise. For families, it means clear communication, guidance, and a shared commitment to student success throughout the school year.

NOTE: Please include your district of residence on all communication. Thank you.
Please note: According to NYS regulations, School Districts and/or Home Instruction Liaisons have 10 days business days to respond once a Letter of Intent is submitted by sending to the parents a copy of C.R. 100.10 and a form on which to submit an IHIP.
