When does the IHIP need to be completed?
An Individualized Home Instruction Plan (IHIP) is due August 15th or within four weeks after or 4 weeks after receiving materials of Letter of Intent receipt, whichever is later (per regulations) whichever is later. Please visit NYSED Commissioner's Regulation 100.10 and review the required topics according to the student's grade level.
Please include the following information on every document that you submit:
Your child’s name, grade, and physical address
Name of School District in which you reside
Parent or guardian name(s), phone number(s) and email address(es)
Heading to identify type of document (Letter of Intent, IHIP, 1st Quarterly Report, etc.)
You are responsible for keeping copies of ALL paperwork sent to this office. If your paperwork will be late, please notify the Home Instruction Liaison for your child's school district.
What can I expect after sending in the IHIP?
Within 10 days or by August 31, whichever is later, BOCES must respond with either...
IHIP complies with the requirements.
or the IHIP has a deficiency, which must be in a written notice.
What if my IHIP is not compliant?
Within 15 days or by September 15, whichever is later, you must submit a revised IHIP.
BOCES has 15 days to review the revisions and respond.
If there are still issues to be resolved, the regulations clearly identify the parents’ rights of appeal.
