The purpose of the ACT test is to measure a high school student's readiness for college, and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants. College admissions officers will review standardized test scores alongside your high school GPA, the classes you took in high school, letters of recommendation from teachers or mentors, extracurricular activities, admissions interviews, and personal essays. How important ACT scores are in the college application process varies from school to school.

ACT Aspire is an online summative assessment that measures what students have learned in the areas of: English, Reading, Math, Science, and Writing. OCHS offers the ACT Aspire test during the second semesters of a student's freshmen and sophomore years.
Oak Creek High School hosts the ACT Test for Juniors every spring, typically on the first Tuesday of March. Students are registered through the school and will create their ACT accounts during GoTime. This account allows students to access their scores and to schedule additional ACT tests on national test dates. Students are allowed to send their scores to as many as four colleges when they create their accounts or register for additional testing. Students should not use their school email when registering. If they do not choose to send their scores at this time, they will need to pay to have their scores sent to their colleges at a later date.
While the UW system is test-optional through the 2026-27 academic year, students will want to verify whether the colleges they are applying to are also test-optional or are requiring the ACT. Further, ACT scores may still be used for placement and for scholarships. Students are encouraged to ask their colleges how their test scores will be utilized.
Students planning on working in the trades are reminded that a minimum score on the ACT of 17 is recommended.
