Students will engage in artistic research and create art using the elements of art and principles of design present in 2D, 3D, and Digital art.  Students will relate art history to hands-on projects in a variety of art media including drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, art metals, and digital art.  Students who take this class become eligible to take Animation, Art Metals & Sculpture, Ceramics, Digital Art, Digital Photo, Drawing, Painting.

This course is designed to give experiences in a variety of 2D and 3D Studio Art media and techniques in an effort to expand knowledge, appreciation, and understanding of Art and Design.  Students will build on basic art skills in this quarter long class.  

Oak Creek 8th grade Visual Art Expression (1 quarter) AND Visual Art Application (1 quarter) classes are equivalent to Intro to Visual Arts.


Art 101: Elements of Studio Art

UW-Oshkosh CAPP Course ART 101 - Elements of Studio Art  (3 credits)

This course is designed to give non-Art Majors experiences in a variety of 2D and 3D Studio Art media and techniques in an effort to expand their knowledge, appreciation, and understanding of Art and Design within the context of the Liberal arts.  

This course is a dual credit opportunity in cooperation with the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Cooperative Academic Partnership Program (CAPP). Intro to Adobe

Prerequisite: None

(8110X) Grades 9, 10, 11, 12 

Students will learn the basic skills necessary to navigate and create media in the Adobe Creative Suite. This will include covering the basic elements of art and principles of design as well as file management and conversion between programs. They will learn about the many career opportunities available in communication design, connect with industry professionals, and practice managing projects both alone and working in teams.
