Portfolio Development

Prerequisites: Four semesters of 2D art and/or 3D art classes

This course is designed for the advanced and motivated art student who wishes to prepare a portfolio for college entrance or scholarship competitions. Each student will receive a syllabus of required work they are expected to complete. Students are expected to work independently outside of class time on their artwork as well as to provide some materials and supplies beyond those issued in order to complete assignments.

AP Studio Art (2D)

2 credits

Prerequisites: Four semesters of 2D or Digital art classes

AP 2D Design (92511 / 92513)

Grades 11,12

Academic Credential: AP Course

AP Art is designed for the advanced and motivated art student who wishes to prepare a portfolio for college admission, scholarship competitions, and to gain college credit by submitting a portfolio to the College Board’s national exam in art. The AP Studio Art program sets a national standard for performance in the visual arts in 3 distinct areas: 2-D design, 3-D design and drawing. Each student will receive a syllabus of required work they will be expected to complete and make slides. Each student will be required to provide a digital image of their work in the preparation of their portfolio. Students are expected to work independently outside of class time on their artwork as well as to provide some materials and supplies beyond those provided in order to complete assignments. A mandatory AP Art meeting will occur in June to receive the required Summer work.

Grades in this course are weighted. Students who take this course have the option to take the AP Exam. Those students who choose to take the exam are required to pay an AP Exam fee, which is set by the College Board. The College Board has initiated an AP Fee Reduction Policy for qualifying students.
