This school year you were involved in a number of sports and fitness activities in your physical education class where you developed competence and confidence in your gross and fine motor skills to provide a foundation for participation in physical activities.
Now it is your turn to create your own new and exciting game. Please utilize the checklist and rubric (bottom of directions) as guides to ensure the highest grade possible. Your final project for this school year is as follows:
You will create a cooperative game that will involve all classmates
You can use any equipment the Physical Education Department has or provide your own
You must demonstrate knowledge of skill execution needed to play your game and will teach it to the class. This will include written instructions and graphic instructions.
You will reflect on your experience using peer and self assessments.
Includes a dynamic warmup suitable for the activity.
Emphasizes knowledge and skills for a lifetime of physical activity.
Keeps students active during the duration of the game.
Provides multiple physical motor skills in the activity.
Meets needs of all students, especially those who are not athletically gifted.
Features cooperative, as well as competitive, games.
Develops students self-confidence and eliminates practices that humiliate students (e.g., having team captains choose sides, dodgeball and other games of elimination).
Actively teaches cooperation, fair play, and responsible participation in physical activity.
Is an enjoyable experience for students.
Use the links below to explore and brainstorm ideas for your games. You can do your own google searches as well, just keep in mind Step 1/Goals of a High Quality Game when creating this project.

Be sure to construct a dynamic warmup that is appropriate to the movements and intensity of your game. Below are some routines to borrow ideas from. Take individual pieces from the routines to construct a routine customized for your game. Feel free to search the web for other sources of dynamic wamups.
You are to use the planning sheet directly to your right. Examples underneath are provided for you to further investigate and build a deeper understanding of the planning sheet. You can add sections to your planning sheet and diagrams including game courts.
One person of the group, open the "View Only" doc. (right).
Select File/ Make a copy and "Add to your Drive."
Share the doc. w/ your partners and work together to follow the directives.
When finished, the owner needs to "load" the doc. to the Google Classroom assignment post for the day to turn in the assignment.
Research various evaluation forms and create a 10 question form specific to your activity.
This will be completed on the day of the final. Answer the questions in the forms below to assist you on your one page reflection.
You will write directions for your game on your planning sheet including:
Explanation of how the game can benefit you physically
Keep in mind the goals of a High Quality Game
The day of your game presentation, be prepared to lead the class in a dynamic warm up (sports specific activity) this should be typed and handed in to your teacher prior to presentation.
You will film yourself or create a Slideshow demonstrating and explaining how the game is played and submit through Google classroom to your teacher.
Create an evaluation sheet (10 questions and/or rating scale) for your peers to evaluate your game and make copies.
The final part to this project will include a self evaluation. After you presented your game and read the peer evaluations, write a one page reaction paper. What did you learn? Why did you choose the game you created? How did your peers respond to your game? How do you feel overall with the outcome of your project? What changes or modifications would you make to the game? What did you learn about yourself (Strengths, interests, preferences, and needs)?
