Group work and readiness are also major components of class participation. Participation in this class is considered to be the following:
Being on time – this includes…
Changed and ready in appropriate dance attire and footwear.
Try your best to learn the type of movement we are working on.
Remaining focused and respectful throughout the class period.
Asking questions relevant to the lesson.
Remember, you are graded DAILY on your class participation. Make it count! EXPECT ONLY YOUR BEST, AND YOU WILL SUCCEED!
Journal Entries: Weekly journal entries explore personal questions about dance, history, and composition. All journals should be at least one [solid] paragraph typed in a Google Doc. Journals are assigned Daily, posted on the Student's Google Classroom, and are due when the student returns to their next scheduled class.
Other Projects/Quizzes: We will have several creative/art projects we will be doing throughout the year. In lieu of some projects, you will have quizzes to assess for information learned periodically.
Etiquette:
Dance etiquette includes: not talking during the warm-up or instruction, not sitting down during class, apologizing if you accidentally kick or hit someone, and respecting the teacher and fellow students. Intimidation, verbal or non-verbal, will not be tolerated.
Medical Excuses:
Students excused from participation by a parent/guardian or doctor’s note must still complete the appropriate make-up/alternative work. Students who require modified participation for longer than two days must have a doctor's note outlining the requirements for modification.
Attendance and Lateness:
If you are absent for any reason, it is your responsibility to complete the work missed in google classroom and contact the teacher for additional information missed during class time.
I am excited to work with you this year and look forward to getting to know ALL of my students!
