Potential placement areas outlined reflect placement areas where students from CW and the OCDSB have been placed over the years.

There is no guarantee that a student will obtain a placement at a particular organization or business.  Similar to the real world of work, students are competing for these placements with other co-op students from across the school board.

 Organizations and businesses may change their mind about accepting co-op students for any number of reasons.  

To help ensure students obtain a placement in the preferred career field and/or at their preferred organization or business, students need to attend meetings with Mrs. Banks months before the semester begins and with Mrs. Banks' help, begin the process of updating and preparing their resume, contacting potential placements and attending placement interviews.

The initial interview with Mrs. Banks may take place during school hours or after school hours. Parents will be invited to attend virtual meetings with students after school hours. 

Students who are interested in the trades specifically placements with Electrician, Plumbers, Carpenters, Welders

as well as 

the Primary Reserve Military Co-op and the Level 1 Stone and Brick Masonry Co-op 

To help ensure a placement you will need to take a 4 credit all-day co-op.  Please speak with your Guidance Counsellor and Mrs. Banks to ensure that you get into any compulsory classes in the semester you are not taking the all day co-op.

Most Electrician, Plumbing and Carpenter Employers will not take co-op students unless they are in an all day Co-op program. 

Students may need access to a car or have a guardian drive them to and from their placement depending on the location of the work and OC Transpo availability. 

The paid Primary Army Reserve Military all day Co-op as well as the Stone and Brick Masonry all day Co-op only take place during the second semester. 

Students earn 4 credits in these types of placements.
