Grade 11 or 12 : Cooperative Education Linked to a Related Course(s) - 2 credit course - can be taken several times
This course consists of a learning experience (i.e. unpaid work) at an organization or business in the community where the students will have an opportunity to further develop and apply curriculum for a related course that s/he has previously taken or is concurrently taking at school. (i.e. working in a restaurant and has previously taken a foods course in school).
Students will develop skills, knowledge, and positive and constructive habits of mind that will support them in their learning and their career/life planning at school and beyond.
Students will also focus on applying their skills, knowledge, and positive and constructive habits of mind to promote and protect their health, safety, and overall well-being
Alongside their teacher and placement supervisor, students will participate in creating and implementing a learning plan that meets their particular interests and needs.
Students will reflect on their learning, and makes connections between their experiences in the community and other aspects of their lives.
2. Grade 11: DCO30 - Creating Opportunities through Coop - can only be taken once
This course consists of a learning experience (i.e. unpaid work) at an organization or business in the community and is not connected to a particular course previously taken or concurrently being taken by the student in the school.
Students will work on developing skills, knowledge, and constructive habits of mind that will support them in their learning and their career/life planning and beyond.
At their coop placement, students will continue to learn and apply skills, knowledge, and positive and constructive habits of mind that will protect and promote their health, safety, and overall well-being as well as strengthen their inquiry, decision-making, and leadership skills.
Alongside their teacher and placement supervisor, students will participate in creating and implementing a learning plan that meets their particular interests and needs.
Students will reflect on their learning, and make connections between their experiences in the community and other aspects of their lives.
