What is Young at Art

Young at Art is a professionally assessed art exhibition bringing the work of young visual artists to local art galleries. Held annually since 1996, Young at Art recognizes the creative efforts of young artists across Ottawa. Accepted works are displayed in a community gallery and are eligible for a number of awards.

Each year, submitted artworks are reviewed by a selection committee of established and new artists from our community. The selection process delivers exciting, quality exhibitions based on common assessment criteria: originality, overall impression/elements of art, technical ability, and composition.

Who is eligible to enter?

Visual artists between 12 to 19 years of age who live or go to school in Ottawa.

Deadline to submit: Monday, March 28, 2022 at 4 pm

Virtual NGC

Where art connects us all

Welcome to Virtual NGC – In these uncertain times, we are delighted to provide you with a virtual experience, where we can all connect with the restorative and enriching power of art.

From curator’s choice and virtual gallery features to thought-provoking articles and downloadable resources. We invite you to tour and explore.

A photostory combines images and text to tell a story. For the Still Photography Division, the focus of the story was Canada. Photostories contain wonderful stories about Canada, its people and its achievements. They were published in Canadian and international newspapers, magazines and publications and reached a wide audience.

Come explore art – then play, draw, paint and create!

Families are invited to experience the National Gallery, play art games, make their own artworks and share art with other kids across Canada and around the world. Artissimo activities are for children aged 3 and older accompanied by an adult.
