Justin Richardson was born in Greenwich Village, New York City and lives there now with his partner, Peter Parnell, and their daughter.
Richardson was Chief Resident in Psychiatry at Harvard's McLean Hospital before joining the faculty of Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. Parnell is an American Broadway and Off-Broadway playwright, television writer, and children's book author.
In 2005, the couple published their first children's book, And Tango Makes Three (Simon and Schuster). The book tells the true story of two male penguins living in the Central Park Zoo who pair-bonded and together hatched a chick named Tango.
The male penguin keeps the chicks warm while the females swim for food.
Penguins build a nest of rocks to protect the egg.
An Emperor Penguin measures 120cm. The children practised their measuring skills next to the life size drawing.
We made our own penguins using familiar shapes: cercle, coeur, triangle
Children retold the story using rocks, sticks and penguin figures.
We practise our French colours, turn taking and problem solving strategies while playing this game together.
