Criteria
The Community Fund can only be used for Bonner Scholar-initiated service projects, resources and supplies for non-profit agencies or community-based organizations, and training that includes travel and registration expenses for conferences and workshops related to civic engagement (limited funds available). The Community Fund is only available during the academic year. The maximum amount that can be requested for one project is $500. There is also a $500 limit for requests per Bonner Scholar during the academic year. If you are requesting more than $250, you may be asked to attend the Community Fund committee meeting. The Bonner Community Fund Committee will review your application, and you will be notified about the outcome of the review by e-mail
When a Bonner Scholar receives an advance check for a request, the money must be used within 90 days after receipt of the check. The Bonner Scholar must also abide by Oberlin College’s cash advance policy, which must be signed before the check can be picked up. All expenditures must be documented with original itemized receipts. Keep all receipts!
Bonner Scholars who receive funding may be asked to share information about their projects at an All-Bonner meeting. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Bonner Scholars Program staff.
Requests must be submitted *at least two weeks* prior to the date the money is needed. Decisions can be expected after BLT Meetings.
If your request is for an event that may happen before you receive the money, keep your receipts for reimbursement.
Decisions will not be communicated over weekends or school breaks.
