The Bonner Scholars Program takes sophomore Bonners on a day trip or short service trip with students from another school to exchange ideas and experiences. It often includes program and service activities, educational preparation and reflection, training or attending a conference, and creating cross-program connections.
The Exchange is usually planned during the Fall Semester. For the past few years, we have partnered with Case Western Reserve University, Allegheny College, and Capital University to participate in community building and collaborative service opportunities. Below are photos from the 2024 Sophomore Exchange.
The Bonner Foundation has defined the process of recommitment and renewal as, “a time of reflection and celebration that inspires students to deepen their commitment to and increase their energy for leadership and service.” The recommitment is structured as a day-long retreat for sophomore Bonners during the spring semester. Through guided individual and small group discussions, Bonners discuss what is at the core of their commitments to the Bonner Scholars Program, Oberlin College, and life after Oberlin.
