I am a Senior at Oakland University inspiring to become an Elementary Education teacher for upper elementary. I am graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Language Arts major by December 2023. I fell in love with teaching when I was offered a catechist (teaching) position at my Church, St. Margaret of Scotland. I taught a preschool and two first grade classes each week for two and a half years. Being able to work with children is an amazing experience and opportunity that I will carry out for my life's career. I fell in love with upper elementary at my second field placement at Messmore Elementary. I believe that this is the age where teachers need to teach students tips or school hacks to succeed in throughout their life of academics. It is essential that students are explicitly taught how to study, how to take a test, why they are learning what they are learning, and scaffolding to deepen their understanding. I hope I will have the opportunity to teach students and have them teach me to become a better teacher and person. By this, I hope I will make a difference in my students' lives as they will for me.
