Candidate wrote a narrative that made clear the ways in which culture and home lives of students are valued in the classroom. Evidence is provided that speaks to the ways in which candidate brings the funds of knowledge of students into the classroom and the ways in which the candidate works to connect with the students, school and community.
Throughout my journey in becoming a teacher, I have developed various professional relationships primarily through substitute teaching and student teaching.
My subbing experience has allowed me to see the different environments across multiple districts. I have made connections in Avondale, Pontiac, Fraser, and Utica Community Schools.
During my student teaching, I had offer to join the Kindness Club to help organize and give support with the 5th grade teacher who teaches social studies. Throughout my time, the students decorated the school for Halloween, created goody bags for every classroom, they taped a kind message and sticker to every students' desk for kindness day in November, created Veteran's Day cards, and create posters for the canned food drive and for the hat and mitten tree.
In the month of October, I offered to be in charge of the canned food drive. This meant organizing prizes, advertisement, and collection process. We started to collect cans at the beginning of November and this went until November 17th. During collection, I updated a bulletin board by the main office to illustrate what grades were in the lead. By the end of the collection, the students had collected over 4,000 canned goods.
