Mrs. Howard has been with the school for a long time; starting her teaching career at Oak Hill in our elementary school, she quickly became many students’ favorite teacher. We are all very lucky to have such a kind and sweet teacher at our school. Mrs. Howard's greatest stress in her life are her children and being a mother; to quote her: “a mother never stops worrying about her children, no matter how old they are.” The thing that makes her job worthwhile is making an impact in her students' lives. Her students know that when they enter her room they are safe and free of judgement. Mrs. Howard always gets to know her students, what her students do for fun, their hobbies, even their favorite foods. She makes it a point to show up to their games and concerts to support them in everything they do. She says, “Once they know you genuinely care about them, they are going to go above and beyond for you.” Even if you no longer are in her class, her door is always open for you; if you need anything, she is always there. Mrs. Howard wants to be remembered as a teacher who truly cares about her students. Howard says, “I hope they know I not only care about their grades, but also their hearts and minds. I want them to remember that I always saw their potential and never gave up on them.” That is why we are very proud to honor Mrs. Howard as our staff spotlight of the week.
Mrs.King is the Oak Hill Middle/High School choir teacher and drama teacher; she also is the director for our theater department. She is a hard working teacher and director. We are very proud to have her as a member of Oak Hill Middle High School staff and for her to be the staff spotlight of the week. We interviewed Mrs.King, so let’s see what she says. What makes Mrs.King’s job worthwhile is when someone finally comes up to her with a smile and says they get it. Even when a kid smiles at her for the first time. She wants people to remember that they have to be kind, and they need to give more than you take.To remember the world's not out to get you, and you are so loved despite everything. Her greatest influence in childhood is when she found out in 5th grade she had an anxiety disorder, that she had to learn to live with and regulate her emotions. She learned that everyone has a little anxiety and being human is not something to be ashamed of. Her hidden talent is sewing; she sews costumes and clothes and pillows and many other household items. She even sewed some of the costumes you see on the stage during the musicals. In conclusion, we are very lucky to have a person as great as Mrs .King on staff, and as her students, we need to do our part in making her feel loved and respected just like she's done for us.
