This week we are very honored to have Mrs. Spriggs as our staff spotlight of the week. She is an upstanding member of our community and an amazing teacher. She works hard and supports her students no matter what they do. She is always kind and won't lie to you if you have any questions.Through the years, she has taught many classes such as CCS, financial literacy, advisory and many more. She wanted to be a teacher for three reasons, “June, July, August!” Okay, no, she wanted to be a teacher because she came from a family of nurses and teachers. Her mother was a teacher, so she spent a lot of time in her classroom while growing up, so she always knew that she wanted to be a teacher. Her biggest accomplishment is her 44 years of teaching she has under her belt with many more to come. Although she is an easy going person, she does have one major pet peeve with being around people who think they know it all. She loves spending time with her grandkids, spoiling them, shopping, and watching Netflix shows in her downtime. We are all very very grateful and proud to have Mrs. Spriggs at our school, helping mold the young minds of the students here at Oak Hill Middle/ High school. So make sure you stop by her room next time you are in the Oak Hill Middle/High School and tell her how much you appreciate her and her work at our school.
Mrs. Howard has been with the school for a long time; starting her teaching career at Oak Hill in our elementary school, she quickly became many students’ favorite teacher. We are all very lucky to have such a kind and sweet teacher at our school. Mrs. Howard's greatest stress in her life are her children and being a mother; to quote her: “a mother never stops worrying about her children, no matter how old they are.” The thing that makes her job worthwhile is making an impact in her students' lives. Her students know that when they enter her room they are safe and free of judgement. Mrs. Howard always gets to know her students, what her students do for fun, their hobbies, even their favorite foods. She makes it a point to show up to their games and concerts to support them in everything they do. She says, “Once they know you genuinely care about them, they are going to go above and beyond for you.” Even if you no longer are in her class, her door is always open for you; if you need anything, she is always there. Mrs. Howard wants to be remembered as a teacher who truly cares about her students. Howard says, “I hope they know I not only care about their grades, but also their hearts and minds. I want them to remember that I always saw their potential and never gave up on them.” That is why we are very proud to honor Mrs. Howard as our staff spotlight of the week.
