We are proud to have Mrs. Richards as our staff spotlight of the week. She is our art teacher here at Oak Hill Middle High School. She is a kind and caring woman who always puts her students above herself and any student who takes her class is lucky to have her as their teacher. Mrs.Richards’s favorite things to do in her free time are painting, being outside, listening to music, floating in the pool and sitting on her porch swing. The thing that drove her to teaching was her love of art, the love of her students, the schedule also is great for a mom and she believes it keeps her young. She'd like to be remembered as someone who cared about people and tried to see the best in everyone and encourage them. All of her former students have nothing but nice things to say about Mrs. Richards having at least 67% of her students taking her again the next year. She’s most passionate about her job, her family and her art. She’s most proud of the fact that she is able to find the beauty in the hardest moments. For these reasons, we are very proud to have Mrs. Richards as our staff spotlight of the week.
Mrs. Howard has been with the school for a long time; starting her teaching career at Oak Hill in our elementary school, she quickly became many students’ favorite teacher. We are all very lucky to have such a kind and sweet teacher at our school. Mrs. Howard's greatest stress in her life are her children and being a mother; to quote her: “a mother never stops worrying about her children, no matter how old they are.” The thing that makes her job worthwhile is making an impact in her students' lives. Her students know that when they enter her room they are safe and free of judgement. Mrs. Howard always gets to know her students, what her students do for fun, their hobbies, even their favorite foods. She makes it a point to show up to their games and concerts to support them in everything they do. She says, “Once they know you genuinely care about them, they are going to go above and beyond for you.” Even if you no longer are in her class, her door is always open for you; if you need anything, she is always there. Mrs. Howard wants to be remembered as a teacher who truly cares about her students. Howard says, “I hope they know I not only care about their grades, but also their hearts and minds. I want them to remember that I always saw their potential and never gave up on them.” That is why we are very proud to honor Mrs. Howard as our staff spotlight of the week.
