Iran Attackes Israel

On Saturday, Iran fired an air attack on Israel with the whole world afraid of the possibility of World War 3 starting. The assault only resulted in limited damage, with Israel’s military saying its Iron Dome air defense system intercepted 99% of the drones and missiles launched by Iran. Some world leaders have contacted Iran telling them to stand down and let bygones be bygones, but Iran refuses and some fear if there was a chance for another World War it would be the most deadly one yet with how much technology has changed over the 80 years since the last World War. Retired veteran of the United States army says that these air attacks weren't just to punish Israel, it was to send a warning to the United States. World leaders have decided to meet urgently about this and find the best possible way to bring peace. Source

Solar Eclipse

On April 8, the United States experienced its first total solar eclipse since 2017. Making it a must for all for all to see in person. The next solar eclipse will not happen until 2033 but it will only be visible in Alaska. It started off its path on Monday through Mazatlán, on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, becoming the first city to experience totality. The total eclipse then darkened the skies over Texas, where spectators caught glimpses of stunning views, despite cloudy weather. Next up were the cities and towns in the midwestern US, with Indianapolis and Cleveland among the places viewers experienced the thrill of the celestial event. Many traveled to go see this extravagant event while others had homes in the pathway and they didn’t have to move a muscle. Roads were busy and hotels were booked for miles from where the pathway of the solar eclipse was. It truly felt like a once in a lifetime experience. Source

Cargo Ship Struck Bridge

On March 26th, 2024, a cargo ship struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland. Since this event, a massive uproar had begun on why it happened. Some might say it was a possibility of terrorism, or that the ship lost control. After a few hours of the event taking place, authorities confirmed that the ship lost all its power and could not control the ship. They let authorities know ahead of time because they thought there was a possibility of them running into the bridge. Fifteen minutes after that phone call, cops arrived at the bridge, blocking it off on both ends so no one could cross it. However, there were some construction workers on the bridge fixing potholes while the ship struck the bridge. Only one of the construction workers survived as the other eight men died at the scene. Now, Baltimore is in an urgent effort to clean up the collapsed bridge and reopen the port side of the city. Source

Putin Sends Warning

The Ukraine war has triggered the deepest crisis in Russia's relations with the West since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the West on Monday that a direct conflict between Russia and the United States led NATO military alliance would mean the planet was one step away from World War Three but said hardly anyone wanted such a scenario. Putin has often warned of the risks of nuclear war but says he has never felt the need to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Putin added that NATO military personnel were present already in Ukraine, saying that Russia had picked up both English and French being spoken on the battlefield. French President Emmanuel Macron last month said he could not rule out the deployment of ground troops in Ukraine in the future, with many Western countries distancing themselves from that while others, especially in Eastern Europe, expressed support. House Votes on TikTok

The United States House of Representatives will be voting on a bill to permanently ban TikTok in the United States. The bill in the House of Representatives would force the Chinese-owned app to sever ties with China or become unavailable in the United States. United States officials have long expressed concern about TikTok, citing potential national security risks. TikTok's owners have repeatedly rejected that it poses any threat. The TikTok community over the week have come together trying to convince United States senators to vote “no” on this bill. Many people such as social media influencers will be left without jobs as TikTok is now their only way of making money. Since TikTok began in 2019, it has given several people jobs, especially during the pandemic in 2020 when no one was working. Speaking of 2020, the TikTok ban discussion began that year but never got passed through the senate, so it was just dissolved. Small creators and companies have also begun using TikTok after the TikTok Shop was introduced, a marketplace similar to Amazon and Ebay. It gives companies a chance to show off their products to a whole new audience through video ads. Most have seen a record amount of purchases since starting on TikTok. Source
