Focus: Supporting the underserved community of adolescent females with autism spectrum disorder.
As part of the CAMS Summer Internship at NYU Langone, I assisted the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Service in developing a support group for teen girls with ASD. This initiative promotes social justice by addressing the unique needs of females, who are often underrepresented in the ASD community.
This project fills a gap in ASD services for female-identifying adolescents, who are frequently overlooked in research and clinical practice. I gained a deeper understanding of the importance of mental healthcare equity and became more committed to advocating for neurodiversity and accessible care.
