Focus: Gender based violence against women and girls in Sierra Leone.
I worked with The Rainbo Initiative which works to address Gender Based Violence(GBV) in Sierra Leone. Gender Based Violence is a serious issue globally and in Sierra Leone with 1 in 3 women impacted over their lifetime. The work has impacted over 30,000 young women and girls in the country.
This project aligns with research on GBV and mental health for girls and young women. I learnt about the devastating impact of Gender Based Violence in Sierra Leone and the need for mental health support services for those impacted by GBV and the importance of research and policy implications.
