Focus: Support the homeless community of New York via legal representation, primarily working with young women and families
I interned at the City Bar Justice Center, a pro bono legal services firm, and my experience was amazing. My understanding of homelessness, housing unaffordability, and the challenges faced by homeless immigrants was radically enhanced. It really reinforced my passion for law and advocacy work.
Homelessness in NY is increasing, and advocacy ensures people aren't mistreated in shelter systems—primarily disabled, LGBTQ+, and immigrant groups. Being first-gen, I got first-time exposure to the law; it solidified the kind of lawyer I'd like to be: one who uses the law as a tool for advocacy.
