Focus: Research project on colonialism within Ghana’s criminal justice system.
While studying abroad at NYU Accra, I interned at the Fair Justice Initiative. My project explored the influence of British colonial rule on law enforcement and incarceration in Ghana, offering insights into criminal justice reform as a path to restorative justice.
I believe this work is important because it helps us understand the legacies of colonialism and the impact they have on contemporary systems, which ultimately contribute to modern forms of oppression.
