The MA Program in School Counseling consists of 48 credits of graduate-level coursework. The MA Program in School Counseling/Advanced Certificate program consists of 60 credits of graduation-level courses.
To help students track and meet all program requirements, all students receive an individualized Plan of Study (POS). The POS is designed to help students navigate the Program’s four clusters of coursework (listed below) to successfully complete the curriculum.
The POS will explicitly detail the total number of credits required for graduation, the terms in which courses will be completed, internship and practicum courses, and the projected length of the program. Once you confirm with your SSA whether you’re completing the program part-time or full-time, you will receive your personalized POS via email.
You are expected to follow your POS exactly to stay on track to meet graduation requirements in a timely manner.
Your Student Success Advisor will provide your POS to you prior to your first term and you will follow your POS for all subsequent terms. If you experience changes in your life that impact your work in the online program, reach out to your SSA to develop a custom POS.
While the staff and faculty strive to provide the most accurate, up-to-date information possible, you are responsible for keeping track of your courses, credits/units, and other program requirements.
The curriculum is organized into four general clusters of coursework; the first three consisting of all required courses and the fourth of electives:

Intermediate Courses (12 units)
Advanced Courses (12 units)
Applied Content Area Electives (6 units)
