Have each student bring in a shoe box and some old magazines and/or small objects that might metaphorically symbolize themselves.
Provide drawing paper, markers, crayons, colored pencils, glue or tape, scissors, etc.
Each student will decorate the inside of their shoe box with images, symbols, or small objects that metaphorically symbolize themselves.
Once completed, have students place their boxes around the room and then hold a gallery walk whereby the students walk around the room to view the archive boxes.
Follow up the gallery walk with the discussion questions below.
