Named for the NYU's iconic logo, the NYU Torch Cluster is five times more powerful than NYU’s previous supercomputer, Greene, as well as more sustainable: Torch was recently ranked No. 40 on the Top Green 500, a global list of the most sustainable supercomputers in the world thanks to its advanced liquid cooling system. Greene, which came online in 2020, was ranked No. 50 on the same list.

Torch features many state of the art GPUs for a new generation of AI and machine learning resarch and also boasts a powerful Vast all-flash storage to accelerate workflows.
Torch was tested in June 2025 using the LINPACK benchmark system, which is the basis for all HPC systems ranked on the Top500 lists, reaching a theoretical maximum performance of 12.25 Petaflops of performance thanks to its powerful GPU resources.
