Welcome to this week's blog post. I hope your 2023 is off to a great start!
Why did you choose your major? I get asked this question pretty often and I am happy to answer it here on my blog.
The following is an excerpt from my very first post of this blog:
"I went into college not knowing what I wanted to study. All I knew was that I was no longer interested in studying Medicine (it had been a childhood dream or maybe a family dream) and that engineering was the next best option.
You got into NYU, yet you didn't know what you wanted to study, Nana?
Yep :)!
I remember so vividly the evening my dad read out the different engineering majors offered at Tandon. They all sounded interesting, but I was drawn to ECE because it sounded the most challenging and mentally stimulating, and that's how I got here.
Moral of the story: I love a good challenge!
Three years down the line, I am faced with yet another fascinating challenge: how to use my engineering degree to pursue my newfound passions in urban design, sanitation and agriculture. My dream is to be able to re-design/improve the built environment and quality of life of my home country Ghana (and now NYC)!"
